December 9-13

Christmas is in the air and the students were really excited about the arrival of "Cutie" our Christmas elf.  Each day, Cutie has been hiding around the classroom and we have been writing about her in our Elf Journals. We have also been trimming Santa's beard for our Christmas Kindness advent.  Each day, the students have a kindness challenge to complete.  Last week, we focussed on compliments, smiling and greeting people when we see them, and making cards for someone special.  This week we will also be learning about other holiday traditions like Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.
Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who joined us at the Galt Museum.  We had so much fun recreating Christmas traditions from the past.  Check out our pictures by clicking on the Pictures tab.
We will be very sad to say goodbye to Miss Bennis this week. We have truly enjoyed having her in our classroom and we wish her all the best in her journey through education.  We know that she will be a fantastic teacher and we thank her for all of her hard work and dedication to our students.

Christmas Concert
-I would like to send a HUGE thank you to a wonderful parent who went out and bought cute little chef hats for all of the students to wear on the concert night!   If you have an apron at home or are able to pick one up from the dollar store, please send it to school labelled with your child's name. (I saw some cute Christmas aprons at the west side Dollarama for $3). I would really like all aprons at school by Friday, December 13 so that we can make sure everyone has one.
-If you requested extra tickets for the concert night, they will be sent home tomorrow.  Please check the front pocket of your child's agenda.

Christmas Card Project
-Please have your child bring their completed Christmas card back to school any time this week.  We would like them all back by Friday.  Thank you for your support with this.

Sock It To 'Em
The caretakers and maintenance staff in Lethbridge and area schools are collecting NEW SOCKS to be donated to local charities.  If you would like to donate new socks, please bring them to school by Friday, December 13th.  Thanks for helping to make someone's winter a little warmer.

ABC Fundraiser Update!
We are so excited to announce that the students at Probe School raised more than $16,000 to go towards our new playground surface!  That means that we reached each reward milestone and will be having a school wide dance party as well as a teacher transformation this week!  Stay tuned for pictures...  Thank you to all of the families for supporting this fundraiser, we truly appreciate it!

Field Trip to Senator Joyce Fairbairn School
-On Friday, the Grade Ones and Twos have been invited by the Grade 7's at SJF to join them in some fun Christmas activities.  We will be walking to SJF at 8:45 and participating in crafts, reading and hot chocolate.  We will return back to Probe at 10:15.  Parents, you are welcome to join us, please write me a note in your child's agenda if you would like to come along.

Christmas Party
-We will be having a little Christmas party on Thursday, December 19.  You will not need to pack a full lunch for your child as we will be having lots of snacks throughout the day. A big thank you to the families that have signed up to bring snacks.  If it no longer works for you to bring the item you've signed up for, no worries, just please let me know.
